We were in the hands of handicapper Craig Hicks again today. However, this week we appointed Bob Fassetta to keep watch on him and to ensure the arithmatics were OK. Many complained it did not work. Amongst these Di Urquhart easily won her event on ly to be notified that she was determined to have broken and, surprise, Craig Hicks, won.
Hopefully Brian and Liz Russell will be back next week. They were reported to be at a pre-season training camp. Brian was reported to be training with Frank Ferrina which, if true, may explain Frank’s unfortunate mistake. Alex Booth showed why you never swim with your children. He was heard telling Adrian that he really should go first in the Brace Relay then carefully told him to start on “Go”. This was, of course, the totally wrong time earning an exhausted Adrian a False Start and an extra swim. Should have made him walk home.
The water was spectacularly warm today and we had some great swims. Rosalind Walsh swam well but recorded a break. So did Di Urquhart who was, as we have observed, also awarded a break although this is suspect. David Scott pulled out a cracker and needs watching. Peter Hogget, despite a crook shoulder also swam well. Keep that up and we will all be looking for a bad shoulder.
